Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center sets a new standard of care for a clean environment and reduces infection rates with the help of a germ-killing robot

LAKELAND, Florida – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – In its ongoing commitment to patient safety, Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center, LLP (LSDC) was the first outpatient surgery center (ASC) in Florida to deploy a LightStrike™ disinfection device. The Xenex LightStrike Germ eliminator robot™ rapidly destroys pathogens in operating rooms that can cause infections and pose a risk to patient safety. Since the deployment of two robots at the end of 2017, LSDC has seen a reduction in surgical site infection rates (SSI) at its two surgical sites.

LightStrike robots harness the power of pulsed xenon to create intense, full-spectrum ultraviolet (UV) light that effectively
destroys hard-to-kill pathogens that can cause infections such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus, Klebsiella and Pseudomonas,
which are able to live on operating room (OR) surfaces from 1.5 hours to over 30 months, even after being cleaned with traditional methods. LSDC uses its robots to disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas and operating rooms after the day’s procedures are completed.

Always at the forefront of patient care and advanced technology, the two LSDC sites are the only facilities in Lakeland currently using this innovative technology. LightStrike robots have been credited in peer-reviewed studies by many health facilities to help them reduce their Clostridium difficile (C.diff), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and surgical site infection rate of 46% to 100%.

GE Power’s Monitoring and Diagnostic Center Helps Generate Electricity Before, During and After Hurricanes

GE Power’s Monitoring and Diagnostic Center located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, is the world’s largest power generation monitoring facility, monitoring real-time operating conditions within 5,000 turbines, generators and other equipment located in 950 power plants in 75 countries and serving 350 million people.

Teams of specialized GE engineers at the Center can work with customers on-site, as well as provide remote diagnostics using digital analysis technology. GE Power not only helps customers directly affected by a major storm, but also helps other power plants ramp up when affected plants shut down during a hurricane.
