Tampa General Hospital (TGH) will soon open a 10,000 square foot diagnostic center designed to be a one-stop destination for people who want care, convenience and efficiency in their medical services.
“We want to make the process easier for you,” said Adam Smith, vice president of ambulatory services at Tampa General. “We are investing heavily in our outpatient network to reach consumers where they are and invest in the next generation of healthcare.
Tampa General Hospital does it at Sun City Center by combining emergency care, laboratory services, radiology, and general medicine medical care in one place and adding a Patient Care Navigator to help patients. residents to navigate the complex world of health care. The Navigator can help you find a doctor, schedule and coordinate medical appointments, answer questions, and more.
For example, the Navigator will be available to anyone to help make a first appointment, regardless of where the patient chooses to go. Then, if the patient’s doctors are part of the Tampa General Hospital network, assistance will be provided for making successive appointments.
The Tampa General Medical Group medical practice is moving from its current location at Sun City Center to the new site and will expand. Initially, it will include five general practitioners and / or ARNP.
“We are discussing the rotation of specialists, based on the needs of the community,” Smith said.
Tower Radiology will provide on-site radiology services at the diagnostic center, which will include x-rays, ultrasound imaging, mammography and DEXA scanning tests. Its current office at 3862 SR 674 in Sun City Center will remain open.
The new diagnostic center is a pilot project for the Tampa General Hospital, which is investing $ 1 million to build the space. Plans are eventually to replicate it in other communities and virtually, online.
Sun City Center was chosen as the first site because of the community’s elderly population and the rapid growth of the communities around it.
“There is a major need for quality care in the area,” Smith said.
“Our vision is simple,” said John Couris, president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital. “We will be the safest and most innovative healthcare system in the country. It will take us a decade to achieve this goal.
“One way to do this is to provide the highest quality care at the lowest cost to the patients we care for,” he continued. “Through our coordination of care program, we will continue to be the state’s trusted health care provider.”
The Tampa General Hospital diagnostic center will be located at 16521 US 301 N, Sun City Center, immediately west of the Walmart Mall in Wimauma. The site will be accessible by golf cart from East Del Webb Boulevard and will feature golf cart charging stations.
