Escanaba, MI – OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group Adult and Child Sleep Diagnostic Center in Escanaba recently received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates OSF St. Francis Hospital and the Medical Group Adult and Child Sleep Diagnostic Center for meeting the high standards required to achieve accreditation as a center for sleep disorders,” said said Dr. Ronald D. Chervin, President of AASM. “OSF is an important resource for the local medical community and will provide academic and scientific value in addition to the highest quality care for patients with sleep disorders. “

To receive accreditation for a period of five years, a sleep center must meet or exceed all professional health care standards as designated by the AASM. These standards cover key areas such as personnel, facilities and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care and quality assurance. In addition, the objectives of the sleep center should be clearly stated and include plans to positively affect the quality of medical care in the community it serves.

OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group Adult and Child Sleep Diagnostic Center is run by Raghu J Kasetty, MD, and provides cutting-edge technology for the treatment of sleep disorders. Conditions diagnosed and treated include sleep apnea, narcolepsy, periodic leg movements, and hypersomnia. For convenience, in some cases, home sleep study equipment is available for use in the comfort of one’s own home.

“We are extremely proud to have achieved this level of accreditation. As part of the AASM standards, we will continue to align our mission to provide safe and quality healthcare, exceptional patient experiences and services that enhance and support a healthy community, ”adds Paul Capodilupo, Director cardiopulmonary services.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is a professional medical society for clinicians, researchers, and other healthcare providers in the field of sleep medicine. As the national accreditation body for centers for sleep disorders, AASM is dedicated to setting standards and promoting excellence in health care, education and medical research in the sleep.
